The Latest Luxury Item: Personalized Genome Map

The latest trend in luxury items is something truly unique. It is not a Bentley or a jet, no, it is a personalized map of one's genome.

What this means is that people are spending a fortune - starting from $350,000 - to have their genome mapped and then interpreted by scientists to let them know what their genetic future holds.

Of course there are many skeptics but besides that, this idea definitely has its ups and downs.

Sure it may be fascinating to know what your genetic future holds, but what if you see that you are going to develop some dread disease perhaps one with no cure, such as cancer? In this case you would surely only be even more anxious and frightened knowing what is to come, and this would be a horrible way to live.

While money may buy a full readout of the six billion chemical units in an individual's genome, biologists say the superrich will have to wait like everyone else to learn how the small variations in their sequence influence appearance, behavior, abilities, disease susceptibility and other traits.

Of course it is up to you whether this information would interest you or not, but regardless you are definitely going to need to be prepared for what you hear.
